About Us
Who We Are.
We are a locally owned, small business. Lauren and Christopher Sobala were both born and raised in Brunswick, and continue to live, shop, and play here, as they raise their family. Golden Isles Mattress (GIM) is a member of the Brunswick-Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce and was awarded the Small Business of the Month in July 2022. GIM won Best of Georgia in the mattress category in 2022 & 2023 and is nominated again for 2024. Go Vote!
Lauren is the day-to-day operator (saleswoman, marketer, accountant, etc.) and you'll find Christopher helping with all aspects (his muscles are tremendously helpful!), around his own career in our local government. You will also find their daughters, Sofia & Scarlett, oftentimes at the store - working on homework, enticing the sale of some candles or pillows to prospective customers, and perhaps bouncing on a mattress here and there (testing out their durability, of course!).

What sets Golden Isles Mattress apart from the traditional retailer, is the model in which business is conducted. This is (essentially) a one-person operation, open by appointment only, which creates an extremely low overhead. No employees and minimal bills equals a shared savings! As you are always dealing directly with the owner, rather than a commissioned salesperson, you will not find the usual pressure to purchase that you do in a traditional retail store. However, you will find branded, durable, quality products at a fraction of the cost.
Set an appointment and you will be greeted with a smile by Lauren (and possibly Sofia & Scarlett), and she will show you the various mattress options and help guide you on finding the best mattress that is both suitable to your body and kind to your wallet. You will not only be doing yourself a service, but you will also be supporting a local business, who dwells in and supports their community of Brunswick, Georgia.
